Selfie Sticks Being Banned at Major US Music Festivals

Coachella and Lollapalooza are warning attendees ahead of time not to bring their selfie sticks to the party!

With less than two weeks until the festival’s first weekend begins in Indio, California on April 10, Coachella organizers have stated that the devices are banned. Lollapalooza which takes place in Grant Park, Chicago on July 31 to August 2 this year, has also issued a warning to concert goers looking to bring selfie sticks in their FAQ section. Among the prohibited items, the list reads:

Lollapaloosa

  • Professional Recording (Photo, Video, Audio) Equipment (NO Large Professional Detachable Zoom Lenses, Tripods or Other Commercial Equipment
  • Detachable zoom lenses, telephoto lenses and other professional equipment like tripods, monopods, stools, stands, sticks, etc. are NOT allowed UNLESS accompanied by a Photo wristband
  • Professional/Non-Personal Use Radios or Walkie-Talkies
  • GoPro attachments like sticks, selfie sticks & monopods.

Many British venues have already moved to prohibit the iPhone and GoPro extensions citing safety reasons.So if you are planning to attend a major festival this season, make sure that the equipment you plan to bring with you is not banned!
