NY Judge Rules You Can File For Divorce Via Facebook!

Okay, so that person with whom you so desperately want to get out of a marriage only corresponds on Facebook, has no known address and would rather “like” your statuses and only talk on the phone. But you want to serve divorce papers and have no known address. Take heed because a judge in New York has just solved your problem!

In a last ditch effort to serve divorce papers, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Matthew Cooper is allowing a Brooklyn woman to notify her estranged husband of the legal breakup through a Facebook message.  The husband reportedly ducked out of the marriage years ago and reportedly communicates with her only by phone and Facebook.

The New York Daily News quotes the woman’s lawyer who says, “We tried everything, including hiring a private detective — and nothing,”  The first Facebook message serving the papers was sent to the husband last week, but “so far, he hasn’t responded.”
